FILM SYNOPSIS

This film is based on the true story of the Dutch born Antonia Brico, who was a child when she and her parents immigrated to the United States. In the late 1920s, she became the world’s first woman who successfully conducted a large symphony orchestra. After the two-year study at the State Academy of Music, she went on to become the first woman to conduct the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. However, emotional strain threatened to overwhelm her, when the love of her life put her in a difficult position. What choice did Antonia make? De Dirigent tells all.
